REPORT ON CAPACITY BUILDING FOR KADUNA STATE CIVIL SERVANTS

1. INTRODUCTION

MAJOR ACADEMY Limited was commissioned vide your letter no. TRA83/S.3/VOL.I/131 dated 17th July 2013 to organize the above course between 19th – 23rd August 2013. It was held successfully at the Kabir Gymnasium Kaduna. We thank the Kaduna State Government for this unique opportunity and wish to report on the outcomes as follows:-

The course commenced with presentations from seasoned professionals on Organizational Development throughout the duration of the course.

2. OBJECTIVES PURSUED AND ACHIEVED:

The course is designed to achieve the following goals:
• To enable participants learn new techniques in organisational development;
• To expose participants to management tool kits which can be deployed to obtain a conducive work environment; and
• To raise the morale and motivate staff through the training, which will lead to better achievement of the corporate objectives of the Kaduna State Government

A list of all the participants is provided as an attachment to this report. We are glad to say they all behaved very well and contributed to the discussions sufficiently.

5. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

a. Some of the participants got their nomination to attend the course very late because they were either far away from venue or at an official function outside the State. As a result they arrived at the programme late on the first day. This was however resolved by working extra hours.

b. Another problem encountered was that a few names of the participants were wrongly spelt on the certificates. This is mainly because the certificates were issued from the participants’ hand written list; this has however been rectified by reissuing them and withdrawing the incorrect ones.

7. CONCLUSION

In our opinion, the workshop was worth its while. It adequately justifies the public expenditure on human development and capacity building. The exposure should be kept alive and sustained for improved productivity in Kaduna State.

We wish to once again thank Kaduna State Government for the opportunity to conduct this program and look forward to many more successful engagements in the future.
